About Me
I grew up living in Georgia, until I started my journey at Auburn University. I have a twin brother who also attends Auburn, which makes my family big Auburn fans! I am expected to graduate with my bachelor’s degree in August 2021 and want to pursue a career as a Certified Child Life Specialist. I have long-held a passion for working with children in the medical field. Over the last several years, I have volunteered and gained experience that will be beneficial in my career. I believe my hard work in and out of the classroom has been influential in shaping me into who I am today. I have many hours of experience working with young children in Auburn’s Early Learning Center, which has given me the opportunity to hone many of my skills including assessing children’s development, showing children that they are understood in a way they can understand, and being conscious of the ways children are communicating with me through their play. I also completed my Child Life Practicum at East Alabama Medical Center which gave me experience working with children and their families in a hospital setting. Additionally, I have experience with documentation, communication, and organization in a medical setting through working as a front office receptionist in a general surgeon’s office. This has given me valuable exposure to healthcare field and allowed me to work face-to-face with patients. My experience serving as Vice President and President of the Auburn Club Swim Team has given me confidence in my ability to lead and collaborate well with my co-workers to work efficiently. All of my qualifications and tools I have acquired during my time at Auburn have made me prepared to purse my goal of becoming a Child Life Specialist and I cannot wait to help children and their families!
